Puritan Colonial Bentgrass, Agrostis capillaris 'Puritan', is the next generation in Colonial bentgrasses, bred for superior performance and color to traditional Highland bentgrass. Puritan is best selected for low maintenance lawns and golf courses in the northern United States and Canada or as part of a winter overseeding blend in warm climate zones, especially on ultradwarf bermudagrass greens. Puritan shows superior brown patch resistance, stress tolerance and high density. Puritan stays green longer in the fall than creeping bentgrass and greens up earlier in the spring. This is a good choice for overseeding fine fescue lawns or lawns with existing bentgrass. Puritan can be mown from ½ inch to an unmown meadow look (see secondary photo, late summer).
